Support

Bayou is a one-thumb boat-racing game for iPhone, made by one developer. If something is wrong, this page says who to write to, what to send, and what can be fixed where.

ole.emil.urstad@gmail.com

Email ole.emil.urstad@gmail.com with the word Bayou in the subject line. Every message goes to the developer and is read by a person. There is no account you can sign in to and no in-game chat, so email is the support channel, and it is the same address named in the privacy policy.

Get help

Write to ole.emil.urstad@gmail.com for anything about the game: a crash, a run that did not save, a purchase that did not arrive, a leaderboard row that looks wrong, an ad that should not have been shown, or a question about your data. Plain language is fine; you do not need to know what went wrong, only what you saw.

Before writing, two quick checks solve the most common problems. Force-quit Bayou and open it again, and make sure the phone is on iOS 14 or newer with a network connection if the problem involves the world boards, purchases or ads. Races, the endless mode, the garage and local progress work offline by design, so an offline phone is not a fault for those.

What to include

The more of this is in the first email, the fewer round trips it takes:

  • Your iPhone model (for example iPhone 12) and iOS version (Settings → General → About → iOS Version).
  • The Bayou version. The game does not show a version number on any of its own screens, so read it from Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Bayou, or from the App Store listing under Version History.
  • What happened and when — which screen you were on, what you tapped, and roughly the date and time. A screenshot or screen recording helps more than a long description.
  • For purchases: which product (a credit pack or Remove Ads), the date, and whether the App Store receipt email arrived. Do not send card details; the developer never sees them and cannot use them.
  • For data requests: enough approximate gameplay and purchase information (best distances, river times, products and roughly when you played) to help locate the record without sending payment-card details.

Purchases and refunds

All purchases in Bayou go through Apple's in-app purchase system, so Apple handles billing, receipts and refunds; the developer cannot issue a refund directly. To request one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account that made the purchase, find the Bayou item, and choose Request a refund. Apple decides the request and replies to you. You can also see every Bayou purchase in Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → Purchase History.

Remove Ads is a one-time purchase. If it is not applied after reinstalling or on a new phone, open the shop from the first screen, tap GET CREDITS, and tap RESTORE PURCHASES at the bottom of that panel while signed in to the same Apple Account. Credit packs are consumable: they are spent inside the game and Apple does not redeliver them, so they cannot be restored. Nothing in Bayou is purchase-only — every boat, upgrade and level can be earned by playing — and no purchase is needed to finish any part of the game.

The Salvage Crate in the shop is bought with in-game credits, not with money, and its odds are printed beside the OPEN button before you open one. If a crate charged credits and paid nothing, that is a fault: write in with the time and what the card said under YOUR CRATE.

Ads and privacy choices

Advertising in the free game is served by Google Mobile Ads. Where a regional consent message applies, Privacy Choices in Settings lets you revisit it. Bayou sends only non-personalised ad requests and does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission. Buying Remove Ads disables advertisements permanently. If an ad was shown that you believe breaks Google's or Apple's rules, send a screenshot and the time; the developer forwards it to Google.

Delete your data

Bayou has no sign-up or login, but an online feature may automatically create an anonymous Firebase guest account. To remove it, open the gear on Bayou's first screen, then choose Delete Online Account in Settings. The first tap explains what will happen; confirm the second tap and keep Bayou open and online until the row says the online account is deleted.

That operation removes the guest identity and its per-account cloud save, leaderboard, purchase and wallet records. It keeps local progress—including credits, boats, upgrades and times—and App Store purchases on the phone. The current installation then stays opted out of creating another online guest account. Separate purchase-transaction records may be retained where needed for accounting, refund support and fraud prevention.

Deleting Bayou itself is different: it removes the local save, credential and opt-out state, but it does not by itself reliably delete a server record. Use Delete Online Account before uninstalling if you want the online record removed. A later reinstall may create a new anonymous identity.

If you cannot use the in-app control, email ole.emil.urstad@gmail.com and state that the request concerns Bayou. Include enough approximate gameplay and purchase information to help find the record. The developer may need to verify that it is yours without asking for more than necessary. Email is also the route for access, correction or restriction requests and withdrawing consent, as described under Your rights and choices in the privacy policy.
